Glenferrie Road car park reconstruction

The city of Stonnington is undertaking major works on the car park at 290 Glenferrie Road including creating a connection between it and the car park at the rear of the Malvern Police Station.

During the works:

  • the bus compound will move to the rear of Lansbury Pavilion
  • the road between the Malvern Police Station and Malvern Town Hall will be for police access only.

Construction stages

The car park reconstruction will be completed in three stages:

Stage 1
(3 months)
Reconstruct the car park at the rear of Malvern Police Station and the bus compound at the rear of 290 Glenferrie Road car park.
Stage 2
(2 months)

Reconstruct the remainder of the 290 Glenferrie Road car park, including the vehicle crossings and footpath.

During this stage the car park at the rear of the Malvern Police Station will be open.

Stage 3
(2 days)

Applyfinal asphalt surface to the entire car park, during which timethe car park will be closed.

This stage is expected to take one day.

Scope of works

The works include: 

  • new retaining walls
  • new lighting
  • new concrete kerb and channel and kerb outstands
  • asphalt resurfacing of the car park
  • removal of 9 trees identified as being in poor to average condition, retention of 22 existing trees.
  • planting of 14 new trees and 1,125 shrubs
  • associated reinstatement works.
