Gardiners Creek Trail path upgrade
The City of Stonnington is upgrading the Gardiners Creek Trail shared path between Burke Road and Elm Road in Glen Iris.
These improvement works will deliver a shared path that is safe and comfortable for all users - making the path consistent with other sections of the Trail in terms of quality, width and pavement surface.
The Gardiners Creek Trail shared path is a key feature of Gardiners Creek (KooyongKoot) and a Victorian Government designated "strategic cycling corridor".
The trail is well used by cyclists, by people exercising and walking their dogs, and those looking to visit nearby parklands. Its proximity to local destinations, such as sports grounds, and its easy access to public transport make the area along the Gardiners Creek Trail a popular spot for picnickers and for friends looking to meet up for social sports.
Recognising the importance of this waterway and adjoining green spaces, the City of Stonnington has developed the Gardiners Creek (KooyongKoot) masterplan(PDF, 45MB) which identified the need to make the Gardiners Creek Trail shared path consistent in terms of quality, width and construction.
