What to expect in pre-season

Pre-season training is designed to prepare players for the season with a mix of skills, fitness, and game awareness. We focus on skill development and decision-making under pressure, as well as fitness and conditioning. We also highlight game play and strategy through small-sided games and tactical drills and promote team bonding amongst teammates and coaches.

Why play for Glen Iris Junior Football Club?

We offer a welcoming and inclusive environment for all players and high-quality coaching. The club has a strong focus on teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth and is a great way to stay active and have fun.

Family involvement

Our operation is only possible through the support of parents. Each team has a Coach and Team Manager, and parents of our players primarily fill these positions. The Club’s Coaching Panel assists the Coaches.

Parents are rostered for match day duties such as runner, trainer, goal umpire, timekeeper and ground marshal. We operate canteen and BBQ facilities at our home grounds and parents are also rostered for this duty.

How to register

Players are encouraged to register & attend pre-season training to prepare for the season. Come and Try sessions do not cost the participant to try the sport. Registration fees to play a full season of football depend on age. You can view more information regarding registration fees on the GIJFC website.

These programs are also supported by Team Sport 4 All, which can pay for your seasonal registration if you are eligible (eligibility includes having a health care card, living in government housing or being of asylum seeker status)

Registration for preseason is essential.
