Watercolour and Portrait Art: 8 week program

Tutored classes with Lindsay McDougall that focus on developing techniques that provide students with the knowledge to become creative artists in their own right.

The course

This course will cover essential aspects of watercolours, including:

• Understanding the watercolour medium, colour theory and colour mixing.
• Watercolour techniques, wet on wet, dry on wet, dry brush, graded washes and more
• Techniques to begin a painting and the process to completion.
• Drawing skills including perspective and simplifying your process.
• Composition. (The key to your own artistic competency)
• The creative process and developing your own style.

 

This course will cover essential aspects of drawing, including:

• Drawing skills: Discover techniques to simplify your drawing process, making it easier and more efficient.
• Proportions: Get a quick start on how to achieve accurate proportions in your work.
• Feature drawing: Learn how to simplify and draw individual facial features, such as the eyes, nose, and mouth.
• Shading and values: Master the art of shading and understanding values, which are crucial for creating depth and realistic features.

Students can alternate between the drawing and watercolour subjects as they wish. Suitable for all levels.
