Transparent Obscurity: Dynamics of Etched Glass
Etched glass is the overarching theme that links the unique artworks in this exhibition. Each artist has had their own approach of mark making through etching that has yielded diverse results. Whether it be through sandblasting, acid etching or hand tools - the creation of these works involves disrupting the surface of the glass to obscure the transparent, reveal the hidden or carve and shape the static. The aim of this collection of works is to present the viewer with a multitude of ways in which etched glass can be utilised in artworks, objects and architecture. It has beauty and function.
