Supporting loved ones with complex mental health and suicide

Peer-CARE-Companion-Warmline-Blue-Circle

About

This group session, facilitated by Roses in the Ocean, will enable you to explore the challenges, difficulties and nuances of being a family member, carer or supporter of someone dealing with thoughts of suicide or complex mental health.

The first half of the session will be a group exploration space, and enable attendees to introduce themselves to each other, and talk about their experiences supporting a loved one with thoughts of suicide or complex mental health.

The second half of the session will be a facilitated activity to support attendees to explore their feelings and experiences and identify opportunities to take care of themselves.

Background

Roses in the Ocean is the national lived experience of suicide organisation. A lived experience of suicide is having experienced suicidal thoughts, survived a suicide attempt, supported a loved one through suicidal crisis, or been bereaved by suicide. Roses in the Ocean runs non-clinical peer-led services, such as its Peer CARE Companion Warmline, which is a call-back service that connects people with others who share their experiences to provide understanding, connection and support.

For more information, visit the Roses in the Ocean website.

If you have any accessibility needs, please let us know in the additional information section when making the booking.

Facilitator

Is Hay (he/they) is the Warmline Coordinator at Roses in the Ocean. They bring their lived experiences of suicide, including as a carer, to their work in suicide prevention. Is has a background in peer work and is an experienced peer group facilitator.
