Trees and nature strips
We care for over 55,500 trees in the City of Stonnington, including trees on nature strips and in our parks. Our trees are managed and maintained in accordance with our Urban Forest Strategy and Street Tree Policy.
If you have concerns about a City of Stonnington tree, you can report a tree concern and we may be able to assist.
We do not manage trees on private properties. If you have a concern with a tree on your property, or a neighbouring one, information on your rights can be found on the Dispute Settlement of Victoria's website. If it is a significant tree, you will need a Tree Works Permit before pruning or tree removal.
If the tree or branch is causing concern to public safety, such as obstructing a footpath, contact Council on 03 8290 1333. For urgent assistance on private properties, contact State Emergency Services on 132 500.
