Tracking waste volumes in our public bins
We’ve installed sensors on public waste and few recycling bins at 30 locations across Stonnington.
The sensors are installed within the bin enclosure and will provide us with information on how our bins are utilised.
On each bin the sensor is installed, we’ll be able to collect the following information:
- the bin’s capacity
- the volume of waste discarded in the bin
- daily, weekly and yearly waste volume trends.
This data will help us improve our public waste operations by identifying locations that may need extra bin capacity, and locations that may need the bin removed.
