Stonnington immunisation service (not COVID-19)
We run a year-round immunisation service, with free and user-pay vaccinations available.
Immunisation is free for children six weeks to 19 years old and for eligible adults in the Victorian National Immunisation schedule.
Registered nurses with immunisation qualifications give the vaccines. Most vaccines are injections.

School immunisation program
We offer free in-school immunisation to all Year 7 and Year 10 students in the City of Stonnington.
Current vaccinations
Year 7 students:
- Human Papillomavirus (HPV) – one dose
- Adult Diphtheria-Tetanus-Whooping Cough – one dose.
Year 10 students:
- Meningococcal ACWY – one dose.
How the program works
- The school sends you information about the program and a consent card.
- You complete the consent card and return it to school. Please return the card even if you don't want your child vaccinated.
- Our registered nurses with immunisation qualifications will give the vaccines at school.
- If your child is not at school on an immunisation day, we'll send you a letter or email about how to catch up on the missed dose. You can take your child to an immunisation session or to your doctor.
If you have the dose given somewhere else, let us know so we can update their record.
For more information, call our immunisation officer on 03 8290 1333.
Immunisation history statements
Immunisation status certificates and history statements are supplied by the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).
The Australian Immunisation Register
The Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) is a national register that records all vaccines given to all Australians.
Immunisation providers (Council or doctors) report your immunisations to the AIR.
Vaccinations recorded are:
- under the National Immunisation Program
- through school programs
- privately, such as for flu or travel.
The AIR doesn't have records before 1 January 1996.
The AIR must have your current address.
Get your child’s immunisation status
To check the current status:
Call us on 03 8290 1333 if your child:
- has incomplete or missing immunisation records
- was vaccinated overseas
- has never been vaccinated.
Enrolling in childcare, kindergarten and primary school
Childcare and kindergarten
When you enrol your child in early childhood education and childcare, you must have their current immunisation history statement.
The statement shows that your child has had all vaccinations due for their age, or as needed.
Primary school
If you enrol your child in a Victorian primary school, you must provide an immunisation status certificate.
An immunisation history statement acts as a school entry immunisation status certificate.
This is a document showing your child’s record of immunisation to four years old.
Older documents, like a doctor's letter or letter from local council, are not accepted.
