How to change a permit
Understand which type of change you need
There are three types of changes (amendments). You need to know which type you need before submitting your request.
Significant changes - Section 72
You must submit an amendment called ‘Section 72’ if your change affects either:
- the reason for the permit
- the permit conditions.
(The name comes from the related part of the Planning and Environment Act.)
We may need to advertise Section 72 amendments to neighbours and other relevant people.
Small changes to approved plans
If you’re making small changes to approved plans, you can submit an amendment called ‘Secondary Consent’.
However, if we need to advertise your changes we’ll contact you and ask for a Section 72 amendment.
Ask for an extension of time
You can also ask for an extension of time for permit expiry dates.
Submit your request
You can submit your request online.
