Warm Winter Read

1 June – 31 August 2024

Make time to read this winter. If you always mean to read more often but never get around to it, the Warm Winter Read is for you!

The Warm Winter Read is a state-wide reading program for readers aged 16+ years and living in Victoria. It aims to create healthy reading habits by encouraging readers to track and log their reading over June, July and August. While reading is its own reward, you’ll also go in the running to win some great bookish prizes!

It’s easier than you think to make time to read. Listen to an audiobook on your commute to work, when walking the dog, or while completing household chores. Swap scrolling time for reading time or replace one episode of a binge-watch with a chapter of a great book.

Join our Warm Winter Read author talk with Alison Goodman on Saturday 3 August.

How to participate

To participate, register for an account through the Vic Reads website or by using the paper reading journals available at our libraries.

Then, simply track and log your reading between 1 June to 31 August (it can be 5 minutes or 5 hours).

Please note: As the Warm Winter Read is designed for readers aged 16 years and over, registrants will need to specify they meet this age limit when creating their user account on the Vic Reads website.

Reading Challenges

Participants are encouraged to tick off six (6) challenge activities as they progress through the Warm Winter Read.

These challenges are not compulsory and provide a little extra fun and enrichment for readers.

  1. Create a cosy reading spot
  2. Literary Pair and Share
  3. Start a new series or read the next in a series
  4. Recommend or review a title
  5. Get out and about with an audiobook
  6. Read a book that transports your mind

Follow us on social media to discover fun ways you can complete these challenges, and to see what other readers are getting up to. #WWR2024 #LibrariesChangeLives
