Election Period (Caretaker) Policy

Like all Victorian councils, the City of Stonnington will shortly be in caretaker mode, which is put in place in the lead-up to local government elections. The election period applies from noon on Tuesday 17 September to 6pm Saturday 26 October 2024, and during that time any material we publish must not contain information that could be seen to influence voters or make reference to a candidate or issue before voters in connection with the election.

This means we won’t be as active across our communication channels. We do this to make sure that the general elections for City of Stonnington are conducted in a manner that is ethical, fair, and equitable and are publicly perceived as such.
