South Yarra Siding Reserve opened in May 2024, return following a near five-year closure for Metro Tunnel works.
As part of Metro's works, South Yarra Siding Reserve was completely transformed with new pathways, striking public art installations, seating, lighting, large expanses of lawn and over 10,000 native plants and 100 trees complementing the landscape.
Buried far below the park is the Metro Tunnel's train entrance, the electrical sub-station and other associated infrastructure, which allowed for the creation of a much larger and beautified open space at the South Yarra Siding Reserve.
In addition to the park works, a new pedestrian bridge has been built over the rail line - creating a direct link for pedestrians and cyclists traveling between Chapel Street and South Yarra Station.
Dogs are always welcome at South Yarra Siding Reserve, noting it is a dog on-leash park.
