Dispose of syringes safely
We are currently experiencing delays in the delivery of containers due to a temporary shortage in supplies. As soon as our stock is replenished, we will update this page. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
If you find a discarded needle or syringe in a public place, do not attempt to dispose of it yourself. You can:
- Call the Victorian Syringe Disposal Helpline on 1800 552 355 (free call, 24 hours)
- Call Stonnington Customer Service on 03 8290 1333 and we will arrange for it to be picked up.
Syringe disposal units
Needles and syringes must be disposed of safely in syringe or 'sharps' containers.
To avoid exposing yourself and others to injury and infectious diseases, you must not put needles or syringes in waste, recycling or green waste bins.
Syringe disposal units are available in most public toilets.
We offer free syringe disposal units to residents to safely dispose of used needles and syringes. You can pick up or return a container for disposal at the Stonnington City Centre at 311 Glenferrie Road, Malvern.
