Cultural diversity

Our commitment to cultural diversity

The City of Stonnington is committed to ensuring our services and programs are inclusive and meet the needs of our culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) residents.

The City of Stonnington is proud to be home to people from 120 countries of origin, who speak 90 different languages.

  • 33% of residents were born overseas
  • 24% were born in a non-English speaking country
  • 23% of residents speak a language other than English at home.

This rich diversity strengthens our community, adding different experience, values and perspectives to our social fabric.

Stonnington's Cultural Diversity Action Plan 2022-2025(PDF, 4MB) guides us in planning and delivering services that are inclusive, accessible and responsive to the service needs of our CALD communities.

Interpreter services

Council provides interpreting services to effectively communicate with residents from CALD backgrounds. Residents can contact us on the Stonnington Communitylink service and speak to Council staff via an interpret in their community language.
