Accessible toilets and changing places

These public toilet and change room facilities are suitable for people who cannot use standard accessible toilets. Amenities include an adult-sized change table, ceiling hoist, a peninsular toilet, a privacy screen and additional circulation space to meet the needs of people with complex disabilities and their carers.

Accessing the toilet

To use the Changing Places toilet facility, you will need a Master Locksmiths Access Key (MLAK), which fits into specially designed locks allowing 24-hour-a-day access.

Getting an MLAK

An MLAK can be ordered from the Master Locksmith Association of Australasia Ltd by completing the MLAK order form.

The key can be purchased by people with disability, their carers, assistants and support workers, and Changing Places facility owners.

The cost of an MLAK key is $20.

Eligibility is restricted to people who have a disability or have written authority from:

  • a doctor
  • a disability organisation
  • community health centre
  • the owner or manager of a building with an accessible toilet on site.
