Toorak/South Yarra Library renovation
In April 2024, the Toorak/South Yarra Library will close for approximately four months as we complete works to make the library more accessible for all visitors.
The planned works include upgrading the lift and making accessibility improvements to the front entrance.
This building improvement project aligns with our commitment to deliver and maintain important community assets to a high standard.
We recognise works of this nature will cause some inconvenience and we thank you for your patience and understanding.

19 July 2024 - Project Update 2
The Toorak/South Yarra Library improvement works are progressing well with the library expected to be back in action from mid-August.
We had originally hoped to have the library open by the end of July but Melbourne’s weather and some construction challenges has pushed back completion by a couple of weeks.
The good news is the new accessible ramp and entry is now complete and the new lift will be installed next.
By the time we open the doors in August, Toorak/South Yarra Library will be fully accessible to visitors or all abilities – a real win for the library community!
We want to thank you for your patience as we’ve delivered this important community facility improvement project and we look forward to welcoming you back very soon.
We’ll be in touch as soon as we know the opening date!
