Glen Iris wetlands rehabilitation
- Project typeWetlands rehabilitation
In 2024 and 2025 we will make improvements to the Glen Iris wetlands and Gardiners Creek (Kooyongkoot) thanks to a $196,863 grant awarded through the Victorian Government’s Green Links program.
This funding will support delivery of the Glen Iris Wetlands and Gardiners Creek (KooyongKoot) Biodiversity Project, which will include:
- Removal of built-up contaminated sediment and invasive weed species within the wetlands
- Removal of weeds and invasive species from the surrounding area, including the nearby KooyongKoot creek corridor
- Revegetation of approximately 1.2 hectares with approximately 20,000 native aquatic, semi-aquatic, and terrestrial native tube stock
- Conversion of dead tree stags to habitat trees, and planting 18 additional native trees
- Replacement of existing fencing with new wildlife protective fencing
The works will commence 2024 and will be finalised by the end of 2025.
We recognise works of this nature will cause some inconvenience. Every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum and we thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
