Lorne Street road reconstruction

In mid-July 2020 the city will commence the reconstruction of Lorne Street, Prahran from Malvern Road to Spring Street.

Scope of works

The reconstruction of Lorne Street will include new:

  • Underground drainage
  • Asphalt footpath
  • Concrete vehicle crossings
  • Bluestone kerb and channel
  • Asphalt road pavement
  • Removal and replacement of nine existing street trees

Your questions answered

Will vehicle access be affected?

Yes, vehicle access to private property will be disrupted during working hours. Where possible, access will be reinstated at the end of each working day.

Will pedestrian access be affected?

No, pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Please adhere to traffic management signage and directions from the construction contractor at all times.

Will on-street parking be affected?

Yes, some on-street parking spaces will be lost during construction. Residents are asked to please keep on-street spaces clear as the work zone moves along Lorne Street.  Parking will be reinstated when the road is made safe.

 

While every effort will be made by P&G Earthworks and the City to keep disruption to a minimum, works of this nature may cause some temporary inconvenience.  We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

COVID-19: Roadworks projects

Construction projects are deemed essential work by the Australian and Victorian governments.

Work will be undertaken within strict health and safety protocols to ensure the safety of contractors and residents.

Measures will include:

  • regular health screenings
  • social distancing
  • management of shared spaces
  • regular communication with residents
  • strict hygiene protocols

Council construction supervisors will regularly attend the site during construction to monitor and ensure adherence to the above measures.
